December 2011

December was busy. As I'm sure it was for everyone. I think I pretty much forgot to get the camera out for anything. I didn't even get a picture of our Christmas tree. =( Oh well. We started the month with me trying to play catch up so I could finish up the semester. Unfortunately I didn't get as good of grades as I wanted, but at least I didn't fail anything...that I know of.

I got all of my Christmas shopping done AND wrapped by the week before Christmas. It was a miracle...I've never done that before. I've always been one of those people out on the 24th buying last minute gifts. But not this time. However, Jeremy hadn't gotten me anything and so he took the kids out on the 24th while I walked around the store and looked at stuff that I don't ever get to look at. So we were shopping on Christmas Eve.

In between shopping and going to dinner with Jeremy's parents (they always go to dinner and a movie on Christmas Eve), we made Santa some cookies. My oven sucks, though, so they were super soft and we didn't even have time to frost them. But that's OK, because the kids had fun cutting them out. Then we did dinner with Jeremy's mom, dad, aunt, sister, and her boyfriend. It was nice to spend time with them. We started to go up to see the lights at Temple Square, but Jeremy started to feel sick and it was already kind of late. So we just ended up going home. The kids each opened a pair of pajamas. Noah's was Super Mario (which he LOVED) and Ben's was Mario Kart. We tracked Santa on the computer and the kids went to bed earlier than normal because they wanted to be asleep when he came. As soon as they were out, we set everything up and then went to bed ourselves.

The kids got spoiled this year (well, last year, I guess, at this point). Before we've never really had the money to do too much for them. This year we finally did, so we went all out. We spent way too much on them, but they really enjoyed it. They got up at about 7:30 on Christmas Day. Well, Noah did. We had to wake up Ben. As soon as he realized what was going on, he was all into it. Santa brought them each a red spark scooter (it's a scooter that has this thing on the back that you push down and it sparks), filled up their stockings with stuff from the dollar store, and he brought them an art easel to share. They've gotten good use out of all of these.

I got Jeremy a massage chair that I think I've gotten more use out of than he has (seeing as I'm home with it all day) and he got me quite a few things. Then we went to my parents house for a few hours and my sister's for a few minutes. Then we spent the rest of the day up at Jeremy's parents house. We always do Christmas dinner there because (well other than my parents not inviting us to theirs anymore) they have steak and crab. It's super delicious. We played some games and exchanged gifts. Then we came home and spent the evening with each other.

Four days after Christmas, it was mine and Jeremy's 7th anniversary. We picked a really bad time to get married, but that's OK. My sister watched the boys overnight while Jeremy and I went to Wendover. Neither one of us had ever spent much time there. It was nice to get away for a night. We gambled about $25-30 dollars away (we figured this is the equivalent of a date) and ate some yummy dinner. Then we went back to our Jacuzzi suite for the night (the tub was HUGE, it was way nice).

The next morning I woke up feeling nauseous and had a headache, and it did not improve as the day went. Over the next week I got really sick and spent the entire week in bed, with Jeremy taking work off to take care of the kids. My in-laws also watched them for a day and sister did for a day, too. It was awful.

Anyway, we spent New Year's Eve at home with each other. We got invited to a party but we kind of just wanted a low key night with just us. This ended up being a good plan because I was so sick. We lit off a firework around 8 PM and then played a game my sister-in-law got us for Christmas called Martian Panic. I managed to stay awake, in spite of being sick, until midnight.

That was our December! I hope yours was good as well!
